Since inception Mangrove Mud Crab Hatchery project sold 94,21,302 Nos of Crab Instar seed to 779 benificiaries and 10,54,845 Nos of Crablets to 340 benificiaries
To develop technologies for large scale seed production of mangrove mud crab (Scylla serrata).
To develop Larval & Nursery rearing technologies.
To disseminate technologies to Entrepreneurs/Govt. organizations.
The Mud Crab Hatchery Project has successfully developed the technology for mass production of Mud Crab (Scylla serrata) seed.
The project has consistently achieving 4.0-4.3% survival in hatchery operations against the world average of 3.5%.
Year-round production of Algae and Rotifer has been standardized. Algae strains maintaining in this facility are Nannochloropsis, Isochrysis, Tetraselmis and Chlorella. Rotifer (Brachionus sp.) and Artemia (A. franciscana) cyst & biomass also maintaining in this facility.
Enrichment of rotifer/Artemia is perfected by using 5 different algal strains to increase the health of the larvae and survival.
Rotifer production technology improved and standardized to produce rotifer of about 150-200 nos/ml in all the seasons in out-door section.
RGCA offering national level consultancy services for Mud crab Seed production technology to the private entrepreneurs and Govt. fisheries departments. Regular hands on training programmes are offering on Mud crab nursery and grow-out Farming practices.
