Major Objectives

Revival of Black Tiger Shrimp, P. monodon farming in our country after the gap of almost three decades through the consistent supply of disease-free high health seeds.

Diversification of Aquaculture in the west coast through the continues supply of quality seeds of mud crab, Seabass, GIFT and pompano produced at RGCA projects.

Introduction of GIFT Tilapia in large scale to support Inland freshwater aquacultures which would cater to domestic market.


Salient features of the Project

Multispecies Aquaculture Complex is the first of its kind in the country and is an excellent adoptable model to other states of the country for sustainable diversified aquaculture.

This Business Model Project of RGCA is supporting numerous aquafarmers in and around the state of Kerala.

Production and supply of the disease-free seeds of various export oriented Aquaculture species such as Tiger shrimp, Asian Seabass, Silver pompano, GIFT and Pearl spot from a single facility.

Products and Services offered:

Supply of the High health seeds of Tiger shrimp, GIFT, Asian Seabass and Pearl spot.
Laboratory services includes the major diseases and pathogens of shrimps, marine, brackish and freshwater fishes and analyse of water quality parameters.
Hands on training on the best management practices (BMPs) for the sustainable farming of Tiger shrimp, pacific white shrimp, Asian seabass, GIFT, Pearl spot and Pompano in various culture systems.

Achievements

Since inception, the facility has supplied a total of 8.3 million fingerlings of GIFT Benefitting 5488 entrepreneurs.

The facility also supplied 0.64 million Seabass fingerlings seed to 522 beneficiaries.

The facility supplied 18,602 Pompano seeds to 30 beneficiaries and 13885 Etroplus seeds to 66 farmers.

To revive the Black Tiger Shrimp Aquaculture in Kerala state the facility has produced and Supplied 6.55 million Black tiger shrimp seeds to 166 entrepreneurs.
