Major Objectives

To facilitate technology transfer and to conduct hands-on-training in applied aquaculture technologies developed at various projects of RGCA to aqua-farmers, entrepreneurs and other stakeholders.

To organize awareness programmes related to aquaculture to motivate targeted group to take up aquaculture as a profession and to take part in various aqua-fair and events.

To collect feedback from hatcheries and farmers and provide those to various RGCA projects to implement the requirement of the aquaculture sector.



Major Activities

Assisting various RGCA projects (Seabass, Mud crab, Tilapia, Cobia, Artemia) to conduct hands-on training programmes on ‚Best husbandry practices‚ for the related species including live feed culture and cage fabrication.

Assisting RGCA‚s centralized facilities (Genetics, Pathology and Engineering) to conduct hands-on training programmes on aquaculture genetics, pathology and RAS.

Organizing awareness programmes related to aquaculture to motivate targeted group to take up aquaculture as a profession.

Attending various aqua-fair and events for promoting RGCA projects activities.

Collecting feedback from hatcheries and farmers and providing those to various RGCA projects for implementation and betterment of the aquaculture sector.

Assisting Indian aquaculture sector by providing much needed skilled manpower required for propagating sustainable aquaculture.

Achievements

Since inception nearly 353 hands-on training programmes have been conducted and nearly 6706 participants from all over India have been benefitted.

11 National/International Seminar or workshop conducted successfully.

21 Farmers meet benefitted 1360 Aqua farmers and entrepreneurs from all over India.

Since 2009-10 a total of 294 no of awareness programmes benefitted 8682 individuals from Aquaculture sector.

During last eight years, more than 6500 people benefited from RGCA‚s awareness programmes related to aquaculture.

The extension division successfully facilitating seed sell from various RGCA projects.

RGCA signed consultancy agreement with three state Governments (Andhra Pradesh, Kerala & Maharashtra) and many more in the pipe-line.
