Notifications

Major Objectives

To quarantine and ensure the SPF status of the SPF L. vannamei broodstock, imported by the CAA approved L. vannamei hatcheries from the approved broodstock centres located in other countries to India.

The SPF status is ensured for the absence of the seven OIE listed pathogens in the imported brooders along with testing for EHP (Enterocytozoon hepatopenaei) and SHIV (Shrimp Hemocyte Iridescent Virus) through the stringent disease screening protocols.

The facility is equipped with a quarantine infrastructure of 20 cubicles and operating in a high end bio-secure ambience, the facility can accommodate and quarantine maximum of 4,12,500 Nos. of broodstock in a year.

Salient features of the Project

A total of 1,35,000 nos. of brooders was received by AQF for quarantine & the mean quarantine survival achieved was 94%

The facility upgraded the online quarantine space reservation system. Provision of emergency quarantine cubicles were also implemented in the online. User friendly features such as SMS and email alerts will sent to all AQMS registered hatcheries on cancellation of any cubicle online.

Round the clock operation & provides year round services to the CAA approved vannamei hatcheries of the country.

Highly bio-secure facility with phase wise (In the month of April and September) shut down for a period of 30 days in a year.

Provide hassle free online service to the importers/ CAA approved hatchery operators.

The OIE listed pathogens tested at AQF are White Spot Syndrome Virus (WSSV), Infectious Hypodermal Haematopoetic Necrotic Virus (IHHNV), Necrotizing Hepatopancreatic Proteo Bacterium (NHPB), Yellow Head Virus/Gill Associated Virus (YHV/GAV), Taura Syndrome Virus (TSV), Infectious Myonecrosis Virus (IMNV) and Acute Hepatopancreatic Necrotic Disease/Early Mortality Syndrome (AHPND/EMS).

Achievements

Since inception, AQF has quarantined nearly 2.1 million nos of L. vannamei broodstock to 3,260 beneficiaries.

The facility also quarantined 16,911 nos of P. monodon brooders and more than 1.1 million nos. of P. vannamei parent post larvae so far.

The facility was able to detect 2 positive consignments and thus save the country from being affected by transboundary diseases.
